How We Learn and Grow

Crittenden County’s largest city also boasts an exceptional school system. In fact, Richland Elementary was named a National Blue Ribbon school in 2011 for its students’ high performance on state assessment tests. Only four elementary schools in Arkansas – and 304 nationwide — received the award. “We’re extremely proud of the work the teachers, administration, students, parents and the whole staff have done,” Gary Adams, assistant superintendent of West Memphis public schools, told the Evening Times.

In addition, students are served by two private institutions, West Memphis Christian School and St. Michael’s Catholic School. Arkansas State University Mid-South , a two-year public institution, offers associate degrees, college courses toward core requirements for four-year institutions of higher education and workforce training.
